Hope Valley College library is a learning resource centre containing a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books, computers for research and the latest magazines and journals.
HVC Library is open for students from 9am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and from 9am to 3:30pm on Friday. Teachers will book the library during the day for reading lessons. Accelerated Reader is a reading scheme all students in Years 7-9 participate in to encourage them to select appropriate but challenging books aimed to help them improve their vocabulary and reading skills.
HVC library runs a number of book review clubs for students including the Carnegie book group. Thursday is silent reading day. At all other times (break, lunch and after-school), students are welcome to come to the library to select or exchange books or have a quiet read.
Adults in the local community can request our HVC Library to order books for them from Bakewell Library to borrow. Simply contact our main reception to speak to our librarian. Books can be collected and returned to our main reception.
HVC Community Book club meets at HVC Library once a month on a Monday 6:15pm to discuss a selected book. Bakewell Library lends us free sets of books. You can collect a copy at a meeting or from the Book Box in HVC reception. Alternatively, you can download your own copy if you have an e-reader.
