On Tuesday 15th January a small group of Key Stage 4 English Literature students travelled to The Crucible in Sheffield to attend the  ‘Shakespeare Experience’ launch. For some, this was their first time inside a theatre and they saw the Main Stage, Studio and the Rehearsal Room backstage.
The experience consisted of three workshops: analysing Shakespeare’s use of equivocation in ‘Macbeth’ with Kirsty Surgey, a PhD researcher and Shakespearean Academic at The University of Sheffield; understanding Shakespeare’s scripts and directing scenes with the Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres, Robert Hastie; finally, engaging with historical context and bringing classical verse to life with the help of Phil Sheppard, Senior Practitioner for the National Theatre and Director of the RADA Youth Company.
